Nashik Kumbh Mela 2027 Dates: Full Amrit Snan Schedule for Nashik and Trimbakeshwar
The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh begins with the flag hoisting on 31 October 2026 and ends on 24 July 2028. The three Amrit Snan dates are 2 August 2027, 31 August 2027 and a third snan on 11 September 2027 at Nashik and 12 September 2027 at Trimbakeshwar. August and September 2027 will be the most crowded months.
The Maharashtra government announced this schedule in June 2025, at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and attended by seers of all 13 main akhadas, as reported by PTI. We have put every date in one place below, so you can plan your trip and your stay. For the full picture of the Kumbh at Trimbakeshwar, read our complete Simhastha Kumbh 2027 guide.

The Kumbh begins on 31 October 2026 with the flag hoisting. A Free Press Journal report says the flag hoisting is set for 12:02 pm, at the same time at Ramkund in Nashik and at Kushavarta Tirtha in Trimbakeshwar. Read more in our guide to the 31 October flag hoisting.
The three Amrit Snan dates
The Amrit Snan is the main bath of the Kumbh. The akhadas go to the bathing place in procession, and their sadhus bathe first. At Kushavarta, pilgrims can go in only after all the akhadas have bathed, but they can bathe at the same time at the other ghats the administration sets up. You can read how the processions work in our guide to akhadas and the Amrit Snan.
- 2 August 2027: The first Amrit Snan falls on Ashadh Somvati Amavasya.
- 31 August 2027: The second Amrit Snan falls on Shravan Amavasya. It is considered the most important of the three.
- 11 and 12 September 2027: The third Amrit Snan is held on two different days. Nashik holds it on 11 September and Trimbakeshwar on 12 September.
The bath used to be called "Shahi Snan". In June 2025 the seers suggested the name "Amrit Snan" (also written Amrut Snan), and the Chief Minister accepted it. You may still see both names in news reports.
Why the third snan has two dates
The Kumbh at this place is held in two towns. The Shaiva akhadas, including the Naga sadhus, bathe in Kushavarta Kund at Trimbakeshwar. The Vaishnava akhadas bathe at Ramkund in Nashik.
For the first two Amrit Snans, both places bathe on the same day. For the third, Nashik goes on 11 September and Trimbakeshwar on 12 September. To understand how this split began, read why the Kumbh has two snan sites.
Other bathing days at Trimbakeshwar and Nashik
The three Amrit Snans are not the only bathing days. PTI reported that Trimbakeshwar will have 53 auspicious bathing days and Nashik 44. These are tied to Ekadashi, Purnima, Amavasya, Vaidhriti and Vyatipata yogas.
These days are spread across the long Kumbh period. If you cannot face the Amrit Snan crowds, one of these days may suit your family better. Crowds will still be bigger than on a normal day, so plan ahead.
Exact dates for each of these days follow the Hindu calendar. We will add confirmed dates to our latest Kumbh updates page as the administration publishes them.
Which days will be most crowded
The heaviest crowds are expected in August and September 2027. Two things fall together in August.
- In Maharashtra's Amanta calendar, Shravan 2027 runs from 3 August to 31 August.
- The Shravan Mondays are 9, 16, 23 and 30 August, and Shravan Mondays are already very busy at Trimbakeshwar.
- The second Amrit Snan, on 31 August, is also Shravan Amavasya.
So August 2027 is expected to be very crowded. If you have a choice, visit on a weekday away from the snan dates. Our guide to the best time to visit Trimbakeshwar has season-wise advice, and the temple timings guide explains darshan hours.
What changes on Amrit Snan days
The administration has shared its plans for the main snan days. These are plans as of now, so check official announcements before you travel.
- Private vehicles will not be allowed into Trimbakeshwar town.
- Vehicles will be parked outside town, for example at Anjaneri.
- Free shuttle buses run by the administration will bring pilgrims into town.
- VIP darshan passes will be suspended.
Guests' vehicles can come to our Bhakta Niwas. On snan days, our free temple shuttle runs only between the Bhakta Niwas and the temple. For road and bus details, see how to reach Trimbakeshwar.
